Default Swaping SOHC, stay with stock d16z6, or should i mini-me??

im going to blow my almost blown d16z6 at the track this weekend with a 100 or 120 shot so i need to put in another engine. I have to chocies put a d16z6 together that i have thats apart or should i min-me it? I have access to a 93 DX engine (d15b) and i know i can get it for almost free. Should i just stick with what works and stay with a z6? or is there a bit more power with the mini-me? and if i mini-me it will it be unreliable like teh mini-me i had in my EF???

d15b mini me vs z6:
-same hp but slightly less torque on the d15b
-weaksause d15b rods
-more work and time then its worth
overall I would personally stick with the d16z6 its pretty sturdy and reliable block that can take a beating.

Look at my name and signature. NufSaid.

Plus I'm not getting into how many times this has been talked about.

run the Z6, more parts available than for the B7 such as rods.

(same response as one i made in my blown motor post)
Im building a Z6 now (i ditched the mini-me deal) as we speak i already got the pistons i just need them pressed on the z6 rods and then im putting them in the block. I am going to use stock z6 block and rods with p29 pistons that i got from the local yard. As for the head i might smoth it out and polish the exhaust ports "as seen on The Old One's site." Manifold wise i am just going to run a y8 with obd1 injectors and ls TB. Only problem im running into is i dont know if i will have enough clearence with a stock z6 gasket. The comp. calc. gives me like 13.5 or something above 12. And if i clay, i will only get regular valve clearence, not the valve clearence with the vtec lobes. So im stuck on that as we speak, or does anyone know how to clay a motor with the vtec lobe? i was thinking just to hook up a bat to the vtec solinoid to activate it and just spin the crank with clay inside, but i dont know if this will work..so anyone have any ideas???

Mini-Me is alot of work.

Generally... you do a mini-me ( I believe ) if you already have a DX/CX/VX/LX bottom end in your car and don't want to pull it.

Go z6 ... :D Unless you can find an HX motor. MUAHAHAHAHA>

I'm not sure what pm7's are... specifically..

but if they came out of another D or B series motor, most do fit in a z6. Like LS's fit in a z6 but have to have some work done to do so.

Stay with the z6. Cheap isn't always better.
With a 120 shot your not even going to enjoy your first run because you probably blow your motor before you get out of 1st gear.

This is my suggestion to everyone who wants to swap to a d-series.

Why is this? I have heard a lot of theory behind the benefis of the hx...but as of yet (sans turbo) i have yet to see any dyno's proving that they hx is superior to the z6 or y8.
