Well, I have a d16z6 in my car right now, and I have a d15z1 sitting in my garage. I have been looking around for info on a d15z1 block - d16z6 head mini-me setup, but I can't find any.

Basically what I am trying to find out is if there is any advantage with the mini me setup vs. the straight d16z6? I am not really sure what route I am going to be taking at the moment (turbo vs. n/a). So lets just pretend that i want to build an all motor sohc beast, while still being streetable.

If anyone has any insight towards these engine setups, your advice would be greatly appreciated.

not worth it a d16z6 is alot better than a mini-me. on top of that you would be losing some displacement. try lookin into some cams and some high compression pistons. if not all motor than a turbo kit.

sorry to bring an old topic up but i was wondering the same thing ive seen d15b7 mini mes and the a6's but never a d15z1, someone told me this is the d15b jdm sohc, i read it somewhere it's the d15z1 bottom end with a z6 top end, can anyone comfirm it? would like to know what it will push hp wise?

The D15Z1 is the VX motor which is a VTEC-E motor. A "mini-me" motor is using a nonVTEC D block with a VTEC head so building a D15Z1 with a D16Z6 head wouln't really be a "mini-me"
