Default When its wet it squeaks...

I dont know if its a honda thing, but when it rains outside i think its a belt that squeaking noise when I first accelerate. Its not a continious noise, just at first. Is this something common?? This happend to my old car too (88 civic hatch) and I got it changed, but for some reason I cant remember what kinda belt its called. Or is this just something that happens when it rains, or its something that I need to do? Thanks...

It means that one of your belts (power steering most likely) isn't tensioned correctly. It isn't tight enough, and when the belt is cold or wet, it just slips on the pulley.

u mite be missing the splash shield that covers the belts from the outside environment. Without that, when you go over a small puddle, your belts gets wet and for a split second will squeal. Mine does that only because i dont have a splash shield, not a big deal, but I will expect that my my belts will wear out slightly faster.

yeah if you dont have a splash shield it may cause the belt to squeal but the most likely thing it would be is the alternator belt, considering you are driving straight (assuming) so its not the power steering, since the power steering pump is not really under any real load until you make a turn that puts the pump under pressure. but alternator belts 9 times out of 10 are the ones that squeal because the alternator is always under some amount of load. and it could NOT possibly be the timing belt because a timing belt dosent just slip like the accesory belts if it did the engine would constantly be out of timing and wouldnt run
