Default squeling

im in the north, its cold, i have a massive squeal comming from the engine bay, i have a feeling its from one of the belts, which one though? and how do i get rid of it?

feel em.. if ones too loose or too tight then do what you have to..

Usually the only two belts I have encountered with is the timing belt and the power steering belt. Might be those two and might not.

Does it sqeual all the time?

Id put my money on your probably your alt belt. Push on it, it should feel fairly tight.

Yeah, belts tend to do that in the cold for obvious reasons. How many miles do you have on the belts now?

PS: I only have 35k on mine, and my alternator belt is making noise due to the cold...

my car as doing this also...turned out to be the a/c belt...i just cut it off...it was very hard and dry rotted ..so it will be replaced by the time the summer is back..

mine do that at startup and till the car is warm. does it go away after a while? does it only squeal at idle and fade away after you hit the accelerator? mine does, i think its the alternator.
plus, it only happens when the car sits outside for a long period of time. i am 99% sure that its just moisture accumulating and it needs a chance to dry, they are slipping a little. my belts are about a year old too. its part of winter driving.

the only prob ive found with that belt squeling stuff is after it wears off it makes your belts squel 10x more, but good temp solution

only when its cold, it will do it very loudly for about 20 minutes, then die off after the engine is warm
