Default Type-R looking for a good set up.

Alright I have a 2000 Type-R with 81,340 miles on it but it runs very very nice for what the miles are. But i am very confused on what i would like to put in it. I want to go all motor because i am not yet ready to handle the diffucultes of haveing a turbo yet. I know i want a very good header that has good torque and horsepower gains and that also has the 2.5 inch collector. From that should i run a custom straight piping or get a good b-pipe? But man im up for any good suggestions so thanks for taking the time out of your day to help me out.P.S. any other things that come to mind that i should do to my car would be very nice but im sticking to headers exhaust and intake right now.

Custom turbo kit.....$1500 bills......a good upgrade that with proper tuning can yield results of over 300 whp on stock internals. Plus the Greddy kit really is kind of half-assed.

But this is the All Motor forum, and I'm a firm believer in the power of an all motor Honda. Naturally, you're going to have to get a few bolt on's like a good header and exhaust. If you have money, look at Hytech or SMSP, if you're poor (like most of us) then get the DC JDM 4-1 header. Building the motor will yield the most impressive numbers. I suggest you do some research and really figure out what it is that you want out of your car, then set some goals and get to work.

I personally wouldn't worry with an intake at first. The stock air box is surprisingly good. My opinion for a great reliable setup....

SMSP header, 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust, and hondata tuned by someone with a lot of experience. That's good enough for a 13 second R on street tires.

true, with the right amount of homework a custom turbo kit can be built, but greddy kit is efficient for ease of bolt on instant no hassle hp. All motor work can get quite costly when u consider pistons, cams, head work, etc etc.

When it all gets down to it, having a good fuel management like hondata, even vafc can yield surprising results with bolt ons for a moderately slim budget.

Here's my list with what I'm running in parenthesis:
Good header(HyTech)
Good exhaust(HyTech)
Decent intake, AEM, Comptech, whatever(Mugen)
cam gears(Toda)
Tuned ECU(Hondata)

It has given me a very nice torque curve, with a decent peak number. It's simple, provides plenty of power, and is very reliable. Sure I would like some more power, but at the cost of reliability, and increased maintenence.
