Since I messed up my gsr motor Im considering on trying to get a Jdm Itr motor 98 spec. How much power do these motors make stock? I live in Cali, so how would I get it smogged and registered? If I were to pick up the 98 jdm r motor, what mods would likely get it up to 200 or more at the wheels. I believe the cr is at 11.1 so I would likely just use a spoon gasket-run jun cams. Any input or suggestions? Thanks.
Everyone wants to get 200whp...it's a very dead horse. Do a search.
JDM ITR motors will make about 10 hp over USDM motors due to better header and higher compression. Does this sound about right to everyone?

since you live in the Hitlerized state of CA getting it smogged legally is out of the question. The B18C serial number will fail the visual inspection. USDM motors say B18C1 or B18C5 but all JDM GSR and ITR motors only gave a B18C stamp.
To get 200whps, you will need higher CR, bigger cams, and reprogram your ECU. Of course, there are all the other small items that require to get the cams and higher CR work well together.

I think the JDM 98specR motors are running 11.3:1. Make sure u get the tranny also coz u know it has 4.785final gear set. So it will make quite a bit difference on the overall performance.
But yea, make sure it come with the 98 spec 4.785 FD too, it make a world of different in acceleration.
Yep, 11.1 CR for 98 spec JDM ITR.
I would love to try the 4.785 FD to see if it is really that big of a different, too bad the cost of opening up the tranny is too much for me right now.
