Default 02 sensor question...easy one

on the 0b2 cars.
the 2 sensors are the same are they not.
just ones before the cat and ones in the cat.
on hondaautomotive parts the part numbers for them differs by 2 (same price though) but Ive always thought of them as being the same thing.

or am I wrong?
thanks

sorry for the brain fart..lol

I'm pretty sure they are different due to calibration. but not 100% on this

i don't think they're the same at all....... the first one reads your a/f ratio (well, you know what i mean...) and the second just makes sure your cat has a consistent output......... i think.

Well most of the replys are sort of right. The sensors are the same themselevs. The difference is in the shape of the electrical connector. The front O2 will only plug in to the front O2 connector and the rear will only plug in to the rear.

I don't agree with the connector. I needed a longer wire to reach the down pipe so I used my secondary as my primary on my OBD2 -> OBD1. We tested it and it works. All the O2 does is send a voltage anyway.

99 Civic hatch - D16Y7

Both of my O2's share the same style connector. The difference is in the length of the wiring.

ok i did some more poking around.

THE SENSORS and connectors are the same.
the difference is wire length and the secondary has a rubber grommet on it to close the hole in the body where the wire goes into!
