Default D-series tranny rebuild now clutch wont work

Alright so my buddy rebuilt my transmission and replaced my clutch for me (Sachs clutch) since I dont know how to do it. I have a lot of confidence in him and his work. I mean he is a mechanic for a living but doesnt work on imports ever.

Anyway, we got the transmission back in and its like the clutch isnt disengaging so I can't shift into gear. He thinks it has to do with some stud for the throwout bearing isn't long enough but its all friggin Greek to me. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

BTW, the slave cylinder is working perfectly fine and we bled the system properly.
