crx or civic guys with GSR motors, help needed
i am about to start my gsr swap into my 91 crx and i wanted to make sure i have everything for the wiring. i am going to use a p72 obd1 ECU with a jumper harness, but as far as the engine harness goes i have gotten alot of different explainations. right now i have the stock 96 obd2 engine harness, the obd2 distributor and the obd2 injectors. i have heard i need to swap all this for obd1 stuff? what are my option? again... please don't reply unless u actually know and have experience with this.
thanks
haha
your obd2 dizzy will work. your OBD2 96gsr engine harness won't work. you need a conversion harness you can run the OBD2 injectors with the OBD2 plugs for the injectors. use your current engine harness that is in your crx if you car is a DPFI you will need to convert to mpfi then OBD1. Basically the Injectors are the same OBD1 and OBD2 the plugs are different so You cant use the OBD1 injector with the OBD2 injector plugs. You will need some off the plugs off the GSR engine harness like the Dizzy Plugs, O2 maybe others but I cant remember right now.. GOOD LUCK ON THE SWAP
if you have any other question feel free to ask

This is right, use the si/hf harness with a obd0-1 conv. harness, and borrow plugs from the gsr harness. Ryan
ok still confused. i know i use the crx harness.. but i was wondering what plugs i need to use.. can i use the ones off my obd2 gsr harness or do i need dizzy plugs and injectors and plugs off a obd1 gsr harness.

the driver side mount the OEM mount that holds the Motor to the Mount KIT. The mount on the GSR is different you need a one from a TEG or B16a First Gen Civic.
It don't make sense right now because you don't have it in front off you when u get it will start to make sense
You can use your obd2 dizzy plugs the one coming from the engine harness and the on the actual dizzy. You will need to repin to the obd1 style dizzy.

I think he means the bracket on the backside of the block that connects to the rear mount.
I am planning this swap as well (actually my dad passed on the b18c in his rex, so it goes into my hatch now)... and I can get alot of info for you. We are planning on a obd1 engine conversion. Let me know how you like the swap. I live just west of syracuse... if you get stuck I would be willing to swing out there .

I am pretty sure the plugs are diff for each obd. You could rewire the dizzy plugs, but that would suck. I think the rule of thumb is use the plugs for the ecu obd.
I'll confirm some shizzle and post back tommorow for you.

crxjake is right. The bracket that goes from the block to the motor mount needs to be a 90-93 integra or 1st gen B16.
As for the dist use the OBD2 unit and the plugs that go with it. Just cut the harness side connectors off the OBD2 engine harness and connect them to your non-OBD harness.
And leave your non-OBD injectors and resistor box in place and you will be fine.

ok ok ok, dont use the obd2 stuff, it will be a pain in the *** to wire up. you will need an obd1 distributor, obd1 injectors(both should come with the engine). you will have to find an obd1 harness and borrow some plugs off of it. get the distributor plugs and the injector plugs. you will need to remove the resistor box and rewire the injector plugs. also with the gsr distributor, the colors for the connector are the same on the engine harness, but you cant just match up colors, cause they do different things. you will have to get a helms manual or something like that to see what colors go where to the ecu now from the GSR distributor to the ECU pins, the colors are as follows:
8-P connector
Org--->B11
Wht--->B12
Orn/Blu--->B13
Wht/Blu--->B14
Blu/Grn--->B15
Blu/Yel--->B16
Yel/Grn--->A21
2-P connector
just match the colors, they are the same and its only 2 wires Blk/Yel and Blu
now what you will have to do is look at the engine harness and find out what colors you have for the distributor on the crx harness. should be Blu/yel, blu/grn, wht, orn, wht/blu, orn/blu, wht. notice you have 2 white wires, dont mix them up. one will be wrapped up with the other 5 and the other one will be by itself. if you need more info on how to wire up the dizzy, send me a IM @ GSRCRXSi 314. i use AIM

Bossman is right, you need the b16, 0r b18a bracket that goes to the driver side mount. A lot of people dont know this, the gsr engine has one that wont fit our cars. Click his link!!! The rear bracket from a 90-93 teg, or crx/civic sir is also needed. Along with a mount kit like hasport, then the engine will be able to be bolted in. Ryan
