Car Running Rich, Throwing A CEL At High Speed/WOT
Well, I got my swap done about a week ago, JDM ITR into a 95 EX Coupe, and it's giving me a couple VERY minor problems. First off, I ordered a race chipped ECU because I figured I'd be doing the upgrades I talked about with the chipper right off the bat, but money started coming up scarce, so all I have on it right now is a cheap *** short ram intake, and the apexi world sport exhaust. It's running rich as hell, but I still love it.
Anyway, the problem is that when I push it a bit, around 80 or so in 4th gear, it's giving the check engine light, nice and steady. No strange noises, no flashing, nothing. I turn off the car pretty much immediately, start her up again to see what code it's throwing, but it doesn't say anything. Am I flooding the engine by going at WOT while running really rich, or do I have a problem I'm too uneducated to know about?
I've already got a stock chip in the mail, and I expect that'll take care of my problem, but I'd still like to know exactly what's going on.

I thought the CEL flashes when you turn on your car to let you know that you have a problem. It's only when I'm at about 80 in 4th, then if I turn it off then back on, it won't come back...
Or am I wrong about that and need to go find the code?

you need to jump the ecu to get the code. You do this by taking a paper clip and findind the plug by the scu. Run the paper clip into that plug (loop the paper clip from one inlet right to the other). Now put the key in the ignition and turn it, it will flash.. remember to count the long and short flasses seperately. ie. 2 long 8 short = 28....
Well, I'll reply here instead of making a new topic...
I'm throwing a code 22, VTEC oil pressure sensor/switch/valve/whatever...
But the thing is, my VTEC still works in 1st 2nd and 3rd... I haven't been pushing it to higher speeds to test 4th gear.
I found what I THINK is the vtec oil pressure sensor on the b18c-r... Left side of the engine, right above the LSD marking on the tranny... 2 wires, round green plug... Only it's not plugged into anything... there's a connector on it, looks like a dual-male connector, like when two bolts are head to head, with a disc between them. One end plugged/screwed into the green connector, the other end looks like it's got a hole through the middle of it, and there's a little oil on there... I can't tell if it came out of where it's supposed to go, and I don't see anywhere it would, or if it's just a way to send the message that all is good instead of splicing it to the vtec solenoid and grounding it out...

that green plug is your vtec pressure switch sensor. plug it in reset your ecu, you good to go. now go enjoy your itr swap....
It's not a matter of plugging it in... It's a JDM engine, so it doesn't use it, but the green connector is plugged into it's mate. The mate has a weird *** thing coming off it. It looks like it should plug in somewhere, so I assume it's the actual sensor that checks the oil pressure...
I know that it can be bypassed by splicing the line into the vtec solenoid so it always gets a "good to go" signal, then grounding the other line into it... But I want to make sure that's what I need to do, that I'm not actually having other problems, and that's actually trying to tell me something.
