G3: BIG water leak under passenger-side dash
Hey all,
I searched, checked the common topics and the articles, but didn't find anything that helped too much, so here goes:
I took my car through a touchless spray wash last night, and noticed water streaming in under the dash on the passenger side (soaking my wife's feet). This is the first time I've noticed this; it probably doesn't help that it's been consistently colder the -20 (Celcius) up here lately. Anyone had this problem, and how did you fix it? Thanks!
PS: If it is already on this site, and I just missed it, please just link me up. Thanks.

Could be leaky windshield.
Could be Heater core (would smell real bad.. like coolant)
AC condensation. there is a tube down there that drains the AC condenser(evaporator?) thats under the dash. Under NORMAL conditions, the AC creates moisture, and it needs to drain out (through a tube into the firewall and outside)
Maybe that tube has come loose

Could it possibly be something simple like one of those rubber plugs just coming out. You know, the ones where wire harnesses go through?
I remember on my friend's car (not a Honda, though), where it happened. It leaks through there. I don't quite remember what my Integra looked like under there, but I remember running a few wires through the firewall at some point. I had to put them through a rubber plug. They are exposed to the elements on the other side.

do you have carpet in the car? carpet wouldn't let the water come up from the bottom really fast since it would have to saturate the carpet to get through it...
pull the carpet back and you will see a few plugs... i'm thinking one of the plugs near the computer almost at the firewall has come out..... might wanna check that out before your computer gets soaked....

Erik

It's not the windshield (checked that right away) and it's definitely not from below the car, since I saw the flow of water running like a tap from under the dash as I went through the wash. I haven't checked the firewall yet, because it's just too damn cold here. Just wanted to fish for some ideas... I'll check these out! Thanks, and keep 'em coming!
what kind of drain line would gush water?
sounds like it's going to be right @ the bottom of your firewall near where it meets your floorboard... their is a plug there... almost where the firewall meets the bottom of the dash....

Nah, it was definitely closer to the top. I saw soapy water (from the car wash) spraying out from just behind the glove box (which, incidentally, was totally dry inside). So I also really doubt it's the heater core, and it can't really be the AC (I haven't been using it since it's been like 5 degrees here for the past month).
try to remove the plastic between the firewall and the windshield and look around in there... i've never poked around in there but it sounds like the culprit is in there.
