Default removing air conditioning

I was wondering if I remove my A/C, do I have to break anything to get it out? I want to be able to put it back in if I move to somewhere where it actually gets hot. Also, is there any special way to depressurize the system? O-zone is good. Right now it does not blow any cold air, BTW. Any help/tips from anyone who has done this would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

nope, dont have to break anything, I'd say its about a 2 hour job getting it out properly and getting it back in.

Make sure you discharge the system from a qualified refrigerant recycling center.

Pretty straightforward really. We did mine in about 1-2 hours, start to finish. Sold all the parts for $250 I think too.

Only thing to add....If you want to keep the rest of your ventilation system, you will need to buy a part. It is just a plastic 'shroud' that goes where you take the condenser out.

So how exactly do you take it all out? And how much does it weigh?

40 pounds or so. that shroud is $50 I think. I just got the one from the guy I sold mine to..he didnt need it!!

Go to Acura PARTS dept and ask for ADD AC for a 98 TypeR instructions....and follow them backwards!!! I just hope your Acura parts guy is as nice as mine.

It goes in place of the condenser under the dash....and no you cant make one. Without it you wont get any air out of the vents....it will just dump out of the blower on to the passengers feet. If Acura wont print out the instructions...let me know and I will copy them and mail it to you.

Don't you mean evaporator? The condenser is the one that is in front of the radiator. On my CRX, the evaporator was in a plastic box behind the glove compartment. I just removed the evaporator and replaced the box and the fan/heater works great.
