I have heard some good things but i would like to hear other opinions. I have a built b18c1 and am looking at 450whp on pump gas. Any one have experience with these cams on a high hp app?

I was told yesterday that a guy gained 21whp up top. Just wondeing wqhat you guys think about this

 

Believe it or not... Keep the GS-R cams if you have them... Perfect.

Ok, thanks for that link! now correct me if i am wrong but 2001+ ITR cams are the same as CTR cams, correct? Also, does anyone know of a reputable dealer for these cams?

I think they are really really close. I don't know much about OEM cam specs off the top of my head - look in the all motor forum.

 

BTW, be careful when you buy cams, there have been a lot of fake ones floating around.

 

I have some real ctr cams for sale.

 

I think they were recommended for terrys car because he is running a B16 bottem end and he has no *** down low that is why they were recommened for his car. but GSR cams will do you fine.

i got a built b16 bottom end. wth a gsr head and gsr cams..., would i be better off getting some ctr cams then? or keeping the gsr cams? cuz i kno the gsr cams are good for boost.

 

From what i understand it is a good idea to change out the intake cam when running a built head. I am going to get the intake cam for sure, just deciding on whether i want both or not, i may even get the ITR cams since there cheaper. I will definately be posting dynos when installed!

EDIT: alright, now i think i may have had a brain fart but someone please remind me which of the 2 cams is best to switch out, Head is still pounding from last night. Thanks

Im running a ctr intake cam and a gsr ex exaust, and my motor loves them, ill be rollin in 3rd gear i'll step into it and when it gets to 8000 it breaks the **** loose and goes strait to the limiter and thats on D/Radials. I have many close friends with turbo cars that run gsr cams with good results, but they dont make power above 8500, where in my car that just the beginning.
It does pretty much the same thing as an N/A motor does when you put a bigger cam in it.
MAKES MORE UPPER END POWER.....

I know this has been beaten to death, but do you really need the ITR exhaust cam? I have a CTR intake cam sitting on my shelf right now, but I would think it makes more sense to put in a type-r exhaust cam as well. Does it really matter if you have the exhaust cam or not?

 

Just for your info, not that it's a big deal... The 2000+ ITR IN cams have the same profile to that of the CTR's...

 

gsr itr ctr 00si exaust cams are very simalar(from specs ive seen and friends ive talked to) But id check to be sure. I think the most bang for the buck is on the intake side. But im only speaking from personal experiences. I think the gsr exaust cam will work fine when using a typical t3t4 turbo because it can only flow so much cfm. i dont think using a bigger exaust cam is going to help much when your turbo cant keep up with the flow demands. I want to build a 1600cc motor with a t66 and some huge cams, taking the info ive learned from my current set up super sizing the cams, turbo, head ports, in&ex manifolds should make for a high rpm and high hp beast and hopefully gives me 9 second b16 bragging rights. But for now its just a dream.

 

the ctr and 2001 itr cams are the same, all years below that in itr have 3 degrees less duration in the int cam. the exhaust are identical. the itr cams seem to be able to pull the torque up to about 8500 easier before it falls where the gsr's start to fall at 8000.

 

Following cam measured with 0mm of lift:

Civic Si(1999 Spec)
Int-265 dur. / 10.5mm lift
Exh-267 dur. / 9.6mm lift

Integra GS-R
Int-274 dur. / 10.7mm lift
Exh-276 dur. / 9.6mm lift

Civic Type-R And Integra Type-R(Integra Type R 2000/01 Spec)
Int-278 dur. / 11.5mm lift
Exh-280 dur. / 10.5mm lift

yea, that 01 spec exause cam is alot bigger, what the specs on first gen itr cams?

If you're looking for a new set give me a buzz during normal business hours. I hope I'm reputable enough. Hehe.

From reading numerous threads, the general rule of thumb that I've noticed in those threads is this:

If you are a running a modified head with higher airflow, the extra lift and duration on the ITR camshafts is not necessary.

But if you have a stock head, you will benefit from the camshafts more.
