Ok, got ma brand new turbo through the door today. A T03/04E. Thing is there's a rattle in the compressor case. Sometimes you can hear it when you turn the compressor wheel.

The rattle seems to be coming from the little channel between the wheel and the air oulet. If i put my finger in the outlet into the little channel i can feel something move? like maybe a disc shaped object?

Anyway as i havn't had a turbo before, is this normal?

 

damnit wait a minute, i can answer my own question here! no! it's not normal!!!

I just pulled out some metal shavings!! sheesh!.. make sure i get 'em all out!

 

you should take the compressor cover off and really clean it out with solvent then compressed air and a brush. just to be sure
