VTEC Solenoid Valve?
Well the code that Acura pulled is 1259 and they ordered a VTEC SOLENOID VALVE to replace it. I'm going to be going to the track this weekend.....safe to run the car or not? What does it do?

Safe? - probably yes... but you'll be choking the car at high RPMs with just the low cam. I would not track the car until the issue was resolved... less for safety as much as the power loss.
Do? - the VTEC solenoid activates the oil flow to activate the rocker pin, thus switching to the middle HI cam during high RPM operation. It is an essential part of the VTEC system (thus, the code).

Jack,
Not necessarily. On my car, the car would keep revving over the VTEC switch point, but it just wouldn't kick in. It would sporadically kick in during the upper rev range. Also, no CEL.

Point taken:
but,
If you have: 1) VTEC controller equipped car 2) USDM motor 3) fully fuctional VTM sensor then, if the solenoid is pulled "on" and the VTM doesn't see pressure, at least code 22 will be thrown and a lower rev limit will be issued.
If, for instance, your low on oil and the x-over is sporadic, then yes the ecu will not throw the code and lower limit or CEL.

right. The dealer actually replaced my computer before they tried the solenoid valve or the pressure switch. I argued with them relentlessly to check these first, but they insisted on the computer. Oh well I figured, it's free. Of course I was right...
