Im worried about this ECU thing and hooking my VAFC up to it.

I researched this a lot last summer and only ran into a couple things that were odd.

-EGR Valve - Install block off plate and leave everything else hooked up, including sensor.
-ECU - It runs off a wideband so you can't just hook up a Air/Fuel meter. Let me know what fuel setup you want to use and i'll work out how to do it.
-If you want to have an Air/Fuel meter you will need to install another O2 sensor that is a narrowband.
-The Exhaust will need to be modified if you buy any kit, it won't bolt up like the Ex because the cat is on the exhaust manifold on the Hx

Other then that it's the same as a 96-00 Civic Ex install. The tranny on the Hx is horrible for gears, i got a 95 Si tranny w/ LSD instead.

I thought wideband is better for af meters. Can you elaborate why hx needs to have a normal o2? Friend of mine is planning on running afc hack and 450 dsm injectors, along with possibly a odb2-&gt;obd1 p28/p72 if the hx ecu isnt a good idea.

I plan on running my VAFC and 450 DSM's on the y5.

Tilt -- You can't use any other ECU with the HX motor. Or at least it isn't a good idea.

I was going to use a CX Manifold but darn how am I supposed to get one made with the Cat on the damned Exhaust manifold? This i getting annoying.

Also, will relocating the cat cause me any problems? I'm going to have my exhaust piping custom made for the project and im sure they could relocate the cat or something right? Wrong?

I guess if I was going to do this, I would engage VTEC-E very low, to get better performance. I don't know how the emissions controls that are built into the P07 ecu are going to handle the various things you're looking at doing. But for sure, any other ECU is not going to be capable of controlling the 5-wire O2 sensor.

the reason i mentioned adding another O2 was so you could run a Air/Fuel meter. Wideband's are better for af meters, but if you go buy a autometer a/f meter it can't read the wideband O2 that the HX uses. For the EGR, it isn't required to block it off, but it will help performance by keeping the hot exhaust gases from being run back through the motor.

i would stick with the stock ECU because of the VTEC-E system/lean burn.

Thanks that helped a lot.

The reason we are/were considering a p28/p72 ecu is because someone a while back posted his experience with a p72 ecu... basically he said the hx motor pulled really hard in the higher revs... which leaves me to believe the fuel/ignition maps are more aggressive.
