d16y5 (HX): Who has turbocharged it? Search = No no
There just isn't enough info on it and forced induction section yields nothing at all. Please someone help. I need to know if HX turbo charging is as easy as Z6 and what I need to do about this ECU/Vtec-E thing.

Re: d16y5 (HX): Who has turbocharged it? Search = No no (Dream)
I was going to try the basic DIY kit and ue a V-AFC for fuel management. I am still gathering up my parts. I am in no hurry, as it is fluctuates between -10 - -60 with windchill, so I wont be installing ANYTHING anytime soon. You are right there isnt much info, that is why us peopel who choose to turbo the HX have to pioneer it and help out people who come along later. I was just goign to install my **** and deal with the snags as they come

IT's very frustrating.
I can't find anything on the HX motor and i'm going to try the SOHC forums but I doubt there's much there either.
THe most i've found is Spade's info on Roller-Rockers, better cam than EX, and not much more that helps with the turbo charging.
I really need to know about this EGR thing and connecting a VAFC to the ECU.
I don't want to waste money on this motor if I buy it. But I really want to see what's up with it.

Re: (Dream)
you havent bought it yet.....?
I was kinda stuck with mine. Had I known the "limitations" or rather the roadblocks, I would have maybe thought about teh EX that was sitting next to this one...but it was a sedan

Im buying an HX motor. That's what im getting into.
It's 400 for the whole swap with axels and all.. and im putting it in a 92 CX Hatch im getting for 500.
But hell.. if I can't find anything on it here... I might just shell out an extra hundred for a d16z6.
Dont get me wrong.. z6 is great.. but y5 sounded a bit more promising..especially with such low milage ( 60k!!! )

Re: (Dream)
turbonetics actually makes a turbo kit specificly for the hx also the eldenbrock one will work also. I also own an hx, and in theory if you changed the cam the computer, you would basically have an EX. I never got around to trying it, because I'm trying to go in favor of the B.

I wont be changing the Cam or the ECU. If I do it it's going to be straight HX.. well aside from the Intake Manifold and the Tranny.
But any information is accepted. Please just post what you know as a FACT.
Checking out the Turbonetics kit.

I didnt see any kits from turbonetics (or anyone for that matter) specifically for the D16Y5...maybe I missed it. Iwent to turbonetics website and http://www.turbo-kits.com.
It was my understanding that th eaftermarket for this particular motor is zilch. I cant see someone r&ding something for this red headed stepchild of a motor

Re: (specv5150)
you wouldn't believe this but I honestly saw it in a jc whitney catalog swear to god dude I know it's wierd, but I haven't had any trouble finding aftermarket parts for my hx, mainly because everything I've bought for it has been for an ex and I've always just made it work
