Hx civic
My friend wants to know everything possible about his 97 hx. He has I/E (Weld on rear section). He wants to know if anyone here has a hx and what kind of performance you get out of it. We all know it is the econo model, but hey we look at it a just another project to add to the list. Also dose it have dual stage vtec? any info would be great.

Re: Hx civic (sohcvtec1995)
The Hx has VTEC-e that engages at around 2300 rpms. Below that one intake valve opens fully, while the other opens only a hair to get a good swirl effect in the combustion chamber. At higher rpms VTEC engages and causes both valves to open fully.
The hx gets good gas milage by leaning out the a/f mixture ALOT. It has a wideband O2 sensor stock to help with this.
The Hx would be just as fast as an ex...all it needs is an ex tranny. I know from experience.
I hate to say but it is going to be slow no matter what unless you get rid of the Hx tranny.
I switched mine to an ex tranny and the difference was awesome.

Re: Hx civic (t0p_sh0tta)
What were your mods? and what about your 1/4 mile times? Would the computer help, or would he lose his dual stage vtec and the fuel econ? and would the block handle it? He really wants his car to move a little bit faster.
