Default Newbie Strikes again. (Pulley's)

Ok. I did a search and didnt find anything. Went to a couple of sites but didnt find anything.
I noticed that AEM and other companies sell Pulley Kits and such.
The question?
Why change them out?
Is it just for a lighter part or is there another advantage I am missing.

Also same question for Cam Gears

Thanks again.

The cam gears allow you to tune the timing of your intake and exhaust valves. By adjusting when they open and close relative to each other you can either extract a little extra power or shift your power band around.

The pulley sets are more properly called "under-drive" pulleys. Their diameter and weight is such that your accesories will be driven at lower levels and therefore free up some power for the drive train. In other words less power goes to your power steering, altenator, and AC while more power goes to the wheels. From what I've heard the gain is minimal for the expense, but others may disagree.

Ok, then dont need pulley's cause i need altenator power for my stereo (the one thing I know about, well .. computers too)

So cam gears can go on the wish list, but they are not real important as of yet.

Thank ya

cam gears will require dyno time for you to tune them properly. Definately one of the later upgrades.
