Default question for experts

i am thinkin of getting an exshaust...greddy evolution and a short shifter

on the short shifter...what is the best ones? that is the smoothest..not really stiff...but a firm easy shift....

and on the exshaust....does it really make a difference when you install it?

If you have custom headers and intake, the exhaust certainly will add to your performance. I/H/E combo is best rather than Exhaust alone.
So if you're getting the exhaust only without the intake and headers, expect to gain no more than 1 hp.

I personally have a B&M short shifter...it feels solid...there is some rattling, but you'll get used to the noise. As far as your exhaust...I like Comptech, but it's pricey.

then why the **** would i want it if the stick shakes?
i dont want noisy shifters...i want firm shirters that are reliable and smooth....

not POS...if i wanted that i would just have cut my damn stock shifter in half...

hey take it easy. If you dont care about price go with C's great quality shifter. Also skunk to is good. You can not go wrong with either of them. For the exhaust, do it anytime of the week but the night before spray some rust penetating lube on the stock bolts and just bolting on the exhaust wont make a huge difference but everything adds up Intake+ headers+ high flow cat/test pipe+ larger diameter piping=more flow..

First of all, DC shifters are made of aluminum and are inexpensive for a reason. They tend to break. Also, about your comment regard the B&M shifter, you asked a question and he is recommending a shifter for you, he didn't have to so I wouldn't have an attitude, we aren't here to attack you. Like most people are saying if you have the money, definitely go with C's. For the future, "SEARCH" it does wonders. That's how I find out most of my information and I do recommend the same for you fellah.

i've used the DC... its a total POS and it destroys your tranny. I guaruntee you will scratch 3rd gear not cool.

short shifters are really a waste unless you get a C's... your tranny life is cut in half, and honestly a good shifter can shift fast with the stock throw- which is already short as ****.

I think Neuspeed it the shortest of the sticks. Skunk2 is cool too. C's is the best if you got the loot.

Skunk2 is like $130
Neuspeed is like $180 (Integra) $130 (Civic)
I dunno how much the c's is but I know it's expensive.

i think he meant use the search function that is available on this site, and type (short shifter) into the field. there are at least 3 topics a week on short shifters, and I am sure that any of them has more than enough information to suit anyones needs, and if it doesn't, make a post that refers to that other post, and ask your question.

this is just good etiquet, I don't think anyone here likes to answer the same question 3 times a week (and some people have been here for quite a while).

as to your original question, I have no preference with short shifters, as I don't see the benefit, I can throw my gears just as fast as the next man that has a short shifter

not too sure about the exhausts either, I went with a tanabe DTM, I think in the end, it boils down to size (diameter), materials used, and sound preference.

for a NA setup without too much in the mods dept (and not planning on much) go with a 2.25" if you plan on doing some serious upgrades, turbo, SC, or bore/stroke go with a 2.5"

I know I didn't give any clear answers, but in the end it will be your decision, and my anecdotes aren't going to change your mind, just keep the diameters and materials used in mind (stainless steel for the exhaust is about as good as you will get). and from there it is your sound preference.

but anyway, I hope I was able to help you not only get more info, but also, in using this forum, which is a very valuable asset, and if the people here don't like the way you reply to them when they are trying to give you advice, you won't get much info out of this site, so try to follow the etiquet of the site, rather than getting a little snippy when someone tells you to search for the info.

HTH.

For the shifter get a billet Steel one, not a billet aluminum. The aluminum ones can break without any warning since it is not in plain sight to inspect. I like the Skunks (about $110) because it's steel and it's cheaper than the Neuspeed, (about $180?) which is also a steel shifter that is very good. Just too expensive for me. If you want a C's shifter look on spending $300 or so. Also get the polyurethane shifter bushing set. It'll make your shifting feel more positive, and at about $10 you can't go wrong. Plus you'll have easy access to them when you install a new shifter.

As for when to install them... when you get your lazy *** off the computer and into the garage! hehe!
