Default Too Much Oil

When I had my oil changed, it looks like they put in about one quart too much. Will this harm the engine or cause any problems? I drove it about 50 miles before I checked it.
Thanks,
d9h

couple reasons.

it creates more oil pressure, which can blow seals and gaskets out.

in some cases, if the oil pan gets filled, the crank actually has to travel through oil.

...and allmotordc5booya,

this isn't a good way to start out on this board

interestingly, 3.0-3.2 M3's are commonly overfilled by about a quart for track use. High-G sweepers tend to uncover the oil-pickups.

But I don't think Honda's like being overfilled.

If its high enough for the crank to dip into the oil, it churns it up into a foam. Then your oil pump will start picking up air along with the oil.

</TD></TR></TABLE> Hmmmmm....I'd think the real solution to this would be an oil pan with better baffleing
