Default B16 swapped but won't shift into reverse.

I swapped in a B16 motor with Y1 LSD in my 89 HF. Everythings in and it runs, (needs tuned) but I can't get the sucker in Reverse. I have tried numerous ideas such as:

Shift into 1st then 2nd then Reverse

Shift into 1st then Reverse

Shift into 2nd then Reverse

Etc.......

It seems that the furthest it will shift is 4th and no further (let me clarify this, it will go into 5th gear). I thought, maybe shift linkage, but it's from Hasport and everyone I spoke with said that's not the case. Some said possible reverse is shot. When does that ever happen?

I checked the linkage under the car and everything is in place. Every other gear works just fine.

Tell me what you guys think. Personal experiences with this issue?

Thanks in Advance!

-Damon

maybe your pin that holds the shift linkage on your tranny is like so worn that its got so much play it cant get past the turning movment of going into the 5th reverse area..

does it go into 5th?

otherwise maybe the linkage is bent in the mail

talk to hasport theyll help you

1st thru 5th I have no problems. The linkage looked and still looks fine. See that's what I thought is that if I can get into 5th then I should be fine. But when I go straight from 5th down into Reverse it's like the shifter just kinds curves into 4th. Almost like there is no Reverse. I have tried pushing hard to the right and down slowly letting out the clutch to maybe pop it into reverse but that was a no go either. The sad thing is that my Reverse lights don't even work so I can't have someone sit behind my car to see if the lights even come on for one second. You know, like if I am almost there, the lights should come on. Frustrating stuff!

Have you tried adjusting your clutch cable?
