i got a 94 dx hatchback and im going to get a gsr radiator for my swap and my question is

How do i remove the whole air conditioner system in the engine bay?

im planning to leave the core/evaporator behind the glove box just incase i want to buy the air back in.

be sure to get the refrigerant discharged at a shop.. then unbolt all the ac components and you're good to go

 

did alot of searches already, didnt help much, came up with all this other how to remove stuff like rotors, hood, engine, tranny

i guess ill just have to guess and go from there..thanks anyways

You have to get the coolant from the AC system (refrigerant) discharged at a shop. If you dont, it will leak into the atmosphere and be bad.

Other than getting it discharged, it should be a pretty simple procedure of just removing the equipment.

ya be sure you don't have any freon left, when i pulled the hose off i got shot in the chest with a whole bunch of it. needless to say i smelled like freon for the rest of the day its pretty self explanatory, just follow the hoses and disconnect whats attached to them.

 

yeah you can drain it yourself... screw the environment. just make sure it's completely drained, and keep your face far away. then take out all the lines (you need to remove the bumper) then take out the condensor and compressor (radiator lookin thing, and big thing attached to the block. then you take out that beer can looking thing behind the drivers side headlight, and the belt tensioner. you can also remove the evaporator behind the glovebox, but i left it in because it's a pain to get to, and you need to get the part from a non ac car.

otherwise, it's real easy... took my dumb *** 30 minutes.
search for "ac removal." with the quotes.

 

I did it on my 92 with out removing the front bumper, so I'm sure it isn't nessasary.

 

i took the a/c out of my car too. it already had a leak in the refrigerant piping somewhere, so i didnt have to discharge it. you do need to keep the stuff inside the cabin, otherwise you heater wont work. the evaporator in the car is an integral part of the blower ducting.

the search doesn't even pick up "ac" and u get a whole chunk of threads talking about removing all kinds of other stuff.

Star from the passenger side firewall and go at it. I did it unintentonally while trying to run the cabin's wiring harness.
