Default Just bought a DC jdm 4-1 header..

I'm thinking about exchanging it at the shop i bought it from. I just bought it the other day, and i just found it that it's not the same as the jdm 4-1 which is oem! So i can't get a skidplate. I'm really afraid of how low it sits to the ground, i scrape a lot even when i go sideways on parking lot ramps. And i'm not really slammed (h&r sports, about 2" drop on my gsr, w/ 17's). My current set up is a AEM CAI, Apexi N1 catback.. i was planning to install the header along with a 2.5" carsound cat that i have not bought yet. What do you guys think i should do? Greddy 4-2-1? Help!!!!

you could fab up your own skid plate.. or IM MikeM @ips.. he has a bar for the DC(chassis) that may do the trick

I would use it... it hangs low, but its cheap, and even when banged up, you can still sell them used if you wish to upgrade later. I love mine

I haven't lost any noticeable track times before/after dents. I'm sure it makes a difference, but not enough to replace it.

You could always return it and buy a Comptech header. This way you don't have to worry about clearance, and you won't have to buy another cat.

I will be getting that header soon, and I will be using a skidplate. People have just had the one for the JDM header welded or attached somehow to the header.
Maybe this helps

it wont scrape unless you really get onto something steep. Im on nuespeed sport springs, whcih are nearly identical to h&r sport springs. Ive hit my dc jdm only once, when i had to swerve into a driveway because some crap fell out of a truck in front of me. It wont scrape on driveways or speed bumps.

yes.. you have to custom mount this piece in order to get it to work..

if you're going to do that though, might as well fabricate your own.. not too tough with some home depot supplies..

personally, I have the DC JDM 4-1, and am not worried about it at all.. and I had the skidplate on my old JDM 4-1.. I never hit anything with it..
