What exactly does the service connector do so you can time your engine?
Like the title states, I was windering what the service connector do that you have to jump it to time your engine and whats at the end of those two wires?
Its a switch that puts the ECU into diagnostic mode and it eliminates the ecu from adjusting the timing, that way you can set base timing. You still have to be at idle though so make sure idle speed is good first.
One wire goes to the ECM; on my '95 it's pin D4. I think the other is ground, so when you jumper that plug, you're really grounding that pin on the ECM.

NO NO NO you guys got me all wrong, IM not talkin about the jumper to check your codes, im talkin about the one to time your engine. Sorry if there was some kinda confusion there. I already figured out about the codes I was throwing an O2 code which is now fixed, now I just need to time it thanks though.

The 2-pin connector under the passenger side dash used for checking ECU codes is the SAME connector you need to short in order to set the base timing.
Oh alright sorry about that I saw on some other site they said it was on the drivers side fenderwell, I knew it was there on the 91- but I didnt know for 92+ thanks and once again sorry about that.
