Default Help!!!!!Tranny or LSD problems

Hi guys,

I have installed a JDM B16A on an eg civic.
When we went for a test drive ,i noticed that the tranny is making a bad but very bad noise. The noise is when we turn the steering and makes a noise like for example you have a broken axle, but the 2 axles are new.
The tranny has an LSD but i don't know if it is oem or an aftermarket. Can an aftermarket LSD makes that bad noise?
Can anyone help me guys?
Thanks alot

according to what you've described.. it doesn't sound like a tranny / lsd problem. more info please.

it could be a bad fork, a pilot bearing ?? maybe a bad pressure plate? It's not necessarily the gears or the LSD.

Sounds like a Bad input shaft bearing...symptoms are a whine at high RPM, and a chatter/clicking from the transmission at idle.

It looks like this:

Here's how to replace it: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=596873

To get one go to the acura dealer...tell the parts guy go into the "MT Clutch Housing section" #16...should be about $35

yeah if the noise goes away when you press the clutch in at idle it could be a throw out..

</TD></TR></TABLE>So that huge noise is just from a bearing?
I once changed on my itr but it was only humming.
The noise is like when you have a broken axle ,the whole car starts shaking and gives hard shakes to the steering wheel as well

Mine wasnt that bad...but u could hear the motor clicking loudly and you could feel it in the clutch pedal...and it was VERY pronounced around turns...take the bearing out of the tranny...spin it around on your finger...if it clicks or makes ANY sort of noise...replace it

I think you guys are going in the wrong direction. He says that the noise occurs when the steering wheel is turned. The bearings would whine weather or not the wheel was turned. Not sure about the noise when the clutch is disengaged... maybe it takes tension out of the drivetrain.

I had the same noise after installing an OEM LSD, it sounded like the clicking of worn CV joints. It went away and has never come back. Go figure.
