Default How The Hell Do These Go Together? (rcas)

Ive got 2 Clarion dpx 1000.2 Amps and I really dont know how to wire the rcas.

Thats my 2 amps so you can see that I only have 1 input on both amps.
Now how do I wire it with what they gave me? They gave me a long 14ft rca to plug in the back of the h/u and to 1 amp then a small 12" rca to connect the 2 amps together.

Did they think my amps had 2 inputs?
Can I run the one rca from the h/u to 1 amp then tap into it and splice the other rca into that?
Can I just cut the small rca and add 12" of speakers 16gauge wire and then both amps with have there own rcas? Can you use normal speaker wire?

What exactly does the rca do?

I dont know if I explained it right, but tapping into seems like it would work or just extending the small rca so they both get there own rca set seems like it would work.

Since they are the same amp, can u take a better pic of the side of just 1 of em, and then take a pic of the other side?

RCA's is your audio signal. They carry the signal from the head unit to the amp. If you needed to, you could just use splitters to get the 2 amps hooked up. I would not cut into RCA's if you don't have to.

Dam my friend just left with the camera phone we took that with. What would you be looking for? The other side just had the speaker wire inputs and power/ground/remote.

The RCA input is on the far left of the amp if you cant see it in the pic.

So I wouldnt be able to just cut the short one and extend it with speaker wire?

Who exactly is "they"?

Your amp could have been confused with an APX1000.2. The APX has an input and an output so that you could daisy chain two amps together.

No, you can not tap into and splice your rca's...it just doesn't work that way.

Hypothetically, you could do this, but it wouldn't work that well. the wires inside of an RCA are very small. I would recommend that you use a pair of Y cables to get the signal to the amplifiers properly.

You need a 2 Y adapters (that will have one male side, two female) and another 14' RCA

Head unit >Plug in 1 male into L output, 1 male in R output>RCAS be sure each amp gets a L and R input>Amps Done
Any car audio shop should have them, maybe even Radio Shack

A Y-cord, aka y-splitter, aka y-adapter, aka splitter (and the list goes on) simply does what you are trying to do, just without cutting any RCA's. Like this....

Make sure you get 2 of them. And make sure that they are 1 female into 2 male. You would not believe the amount of times I have bought them without checking. It can be a pain in the ***.

Don't cut anything. If no one has said it yet, get Y adapter RCA's. If it's too confusing for you, go to any stereo store and they'll help you. Remember, when running your RCA's under your carpet keep the power (red) wire away from them or you'll get noise (static, bad).
