I got my wideband in today and was able to fine tune my vafc settings. I have a 99 si with a vortech supercharger at 8 psi with 440 injectors.
Before the wideband, settings were as follows
rpm low & high
1000 -40
1500 -40
2000 -39
2500 -39
3000 -38
3500 -38
4000 -37
4500 -37
and so on....you get the point
and i was gettin a high of .53 bar on my vafc...stayin around .49 as a high most of the time.

With the wideband here are my street tuned settings
rpm low hi
1000 -47 -40
1500 -46 -41
2000 -43 -41
2500 -43 -41
3000 -43 -41
3500 -43 -40
4000 -42 -40
4500 -41 -40
5000 -39 -39
5500 -39 -39
6000 -39 -39
7000 -40 -40
8000 -40 -41
9000 -42 -42
now i am gettin a high of .55 bar.
these settings yeild me about 14.5 out of boost and 12-12.5 in boost with it goin to about 10.5 at 7500rmp.
I was very suprised at how much i was able to lean it out in the high rpm's. When i first got the wideband in and took it for a test drive, from 4000 on at full throtel, the wideband just said rich. as rich as it goes is 10.0:1. I feel like i picked up quite a bit of top end power, and im not really gettin traction at all in 2nd (shitty tires)

Nice work. Looks like you really cleaned up the top end. Those things are worth every penny!

 

Why are you keeping it so rich (10.5) from 7500 on up? I thought you could safely run it at about 12.0 to redline and pick up some more top end. Just curious.

 

Cool, just ordered the parts to make a WB. How is the A/F under part throttle/ part boost? What was your tuning method and how long did it take? any other changes you have noticed? Thanks!

Cause i was gettin tired that night so i stopped messing with it.
my new top end settings are as follows
4500 -40
5000 -40
5500 -40
6000 -42
7000 -44
8000 -47
9000 -47

as you can see there was still room for improvement.....lol

ive just been tweakin it as i drive....the main change i noticed is more traction problems...lol

i still cant believe how rich i was running before

 

Ya the comparison is really interesting. What is your TH% for Hi and Lo throttle?

Can you really tune the low throttle much below 60%? I thought the ecu would take over once it switched back to closed loop.

the crossover from low to high is 70-71%

Im not having a problem leaning it out at low throttle

 

woulden't the ecu try and bring it back to a leaner (than turbo needs) AFR anyway when in closed loop?

I wonder if you can richen up the part throttle because my turbo loves to boost 1-5psi at part throttle (under 30%). or maybe I'll just set my TH to 10% & 30% or something.

Did Idle and startup improve drastically? I have a feeling it did.

Also, ur using RC injectors right?

I'll verify that you cannot. I've got the DSM 450 "black-tops" and I have my 1000 setting to something like -25 or -17. THats what yields the smoothest idle. At around -40% my car's struggling to idle at like 300rpm-500rpm.

I am using precision 440 injectors....
my idle is now at -47...idles very very smooth at about 700 rpm
the only problem i am having is code 13......any ideas on how to get rid of this

Yeah the 450's have some lag in them. I brought up a topic like this before and that's what was explained to me. I've actually got mine at 35% and it's not too bad right now. But i've seen both setups work.

the only problem i have is if i am stopped and try to hold the rpm between 2000 and 4000 rpm....if i try to do this, it cuts out on me every few seconds....do you have a similiar problem?
