Default engine ticking and um...

ok so latley my car has started this anoying tick it gets worse as the engine warms up not all that loud bu it is noticably louder after the engine has warmed up... it comes from the valve cover ive listened all over and it comes from the cover, i think this started to happen around a miss shift er oil change from jiffy lube...

either way it has gotten at least to me more noticable since last week um engine idles around 750 rpm, strange thing i had white smoke come from under my hood on the way home from work today for like 20 sec so i pulled over to the gas station right next to me and i opened my hood... smoke was gone no more oder it was as if it had never been, but any ways, the ticking seems to get louder the longer i drive or the harder i drive, and um yea i have a led foot....

recent mods were a DC sports Header, N1 cat back, and AEM cold air intake, is it normal for the intake to hiss??

after upgrades lke this should it be retuned as in timeing or what ever? please help as i am new to the whole modding thing and want to learn learn learn

do a valve adjustment, there is a great diy write-up, or you could take it to a shop if your not mechanically inclined.

here is the DIY valve adjustment thread.

The intake hiss is normal.

Is your new header sealed correct? Because that could very well cause the tick noise.

Also... good idea for the valve adjustment.

I dont know about the smoke, maybe some oil on the header.

well first check your oil. If your oil is low you might be hearing a few vavles sticking. Which in the long run ruins your valves.
