Default engine overheating FAST

So we got the b18b1 engine in my DA. when i 1st started it, it filled my garage with smoke. smelt like burning gas. Im assuming thats the exhaust. no biggie.(not thick white smoke)

what im worried about is the engine, it was smoking when i came back from a drive. all the coolant lines are attatched and the rad is topped off. It looked like the smoke was coming from the bottom if the headers.

I didnt have the valve cover tight, just hand tightened. and oil was leaking from it.

Also my temp gauge was at half from only driving it for 2min

any help.

if you valve cover was loose oil probably just dripped on your header. did you check your thermostat?

if you dont know when it was chnged last and you car is over heating i would just change it anyway, i think its only like 10 bucks at autozone. then i would flush your coolant and put all new in, maybe something is just plugged up

Thats how I do it. Never had any issues. Bleeding is easy but people always make it so complicated.
