Axle issues... need some advice
ok ive read probably every axle post on this damn message board. here is the situation. 96 hatch, 95 h22, hcp mounts.
after referring to https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=434668 newman recommends that the most traditional setup is 90-91 teg axles on both the passenger and driver side along with 90-93 accord int. shaft. here is the problem. When i bought the car the original owner said that he originally had this setup and he was getting some pretty bad binding. he said when he switched to 89 teg axles with 90 accord int. shaft, alot of the binding went away. well now that im the owner of the car, i have to say that the binding is sucks and is still there in full force. the car is running stock height with kyb agx shocks and whenever i turn the steering wheel one complete turn i bind (more so when i make right hand turns then when i make left hand turns).
Ive been doing my research and it seems the absolute best way to get rid of this binding is to go with 90-91 teg axles with 92-96 prelude inner joints and 92-96 prelude int. shaft. It also seems like going this way will get rid of my passenger axle from popping out all the time. Now ive never rebuilt, took apart, or torn down axles before and im not really sure about how to accomplish this inner joint swap. does anyone sell these already done? ill even take a howto on this and try it myself. any advice is appreciated. thanks, Pete

from what i know go with the 90-91 integra shafts . do the swap on the inner joints from the prelude. put the shaft in a vice get the new joints cut off the rubber boot of the old joint clean off all the old grease. then its as simple as poping off the old joint i cant remember if there is a clip but i dont think so. i am a mechanic and i do cv joints often so this is how i do them on all cars. but honda acura is so good i dont see alot of them. after the old one is off slip on the new rubber boot if you forget you will have to take it apart all over. put on the new joint fill it with grease clamp down the boot and bamm you are done it will take you a while but it should solve the binding problem . hope it helps
