Default Bad News

Better get the flame suit on and ready. Any idea about how much a K20A2 might run?

If you can find the k20a for under 6 like some people say [~5800?] **** I'll settle for 6500.. but you should get that!

But I plan on getting a k24 bottom with the k20a2 head and building from there. but then again I don't have a blown motor..

I read about the Skunk2 RR doing this it to be honest I was surprised how little gains he got for having k24 bottom.

Had a nice experience with an accidental 4-1 downshift. Intended to go 4-3 and have no idea exactly how it went 4-1 instead. No chance to recover when it revved. Surprising that I wasn't messing around or anything, just wanted to pass some slow traffic and was in 4th at about 50mph. 1st and 50 don't exactly mix Anywhere you guys know of that sells K20A's/A2's let me know. I am working on somewhat of a budget though so I can't entertain the high offers. Any help is much appreciated.

Also, if and when I do get a swap/replacement, will I have to take it to the dealer to get the key reprogrammed for the immobilizer, or will the engine work fine with the original key and ignition?

I don't think I would look for any hp at all, I'd be doing it for the better response to mods, and more tq. By the time I have money for it, more knowledge/products will be available so it's cool

Might be because the 2.4L has significantly lower compression than the K20A (A2). Also I think the K24 has a less favorable rod-to-stroke ratio which may limit revs but I'm not sure that's a large factor since Yack has his K24/K20A3 running to 8k I believe.

We'll see what happens when someone bumps the K24 to 11:1 or 12:1 compression

Who cares for low compression if I wanna boost that biatch anyway. I wanna boost, and bump redline to something like 8500. Oh boy!

Update on the situation, found a K20A2 locally with about 5-6K less miles than my previous engine and am going to pick it up soon. Anyone here know anyone around the Seattle area that could help me with the install for a decent price?

That's a good deal, but slightly too late. Plus I'm trying to keep everything around $4G's as much as I can, engine and install. I just want the car up and running ASAP, with the same engine is great, and with the R would've been better, but I can't afford to be choosy at this point in time.
