Default Choose an option for me!! What the next step for performance is......

So far I have a '99 civic witha j sped b18c, I/E, shocks and coilovers, S-AFC, spoon thermostat , some minor cosmetic stuff, and a lot of battle scars .

Anyway, I wanted to take the next step.

#1. Drag 3 from importparts.com. Were talkin $3199.00 plus injectors and tuning. But the only thing is that the CLOSEST tuning shop is over 6 hours away. ( for hondata that is ) the next one is 7 hours away! I just cannot drive that far one way to tune this car.. and $3000 + is a little steep for me right now.

So I'm canceling out that option. I know turbo is really the way to go, but I'm one of those guys taht likes to be different, even at the cost of something else.

#2.Jacson racing SC with boost up grade ( running 10 - 12 psi ) and Tuning. I know there are some shops about 30 min to 1 hour away that can dyno tune and I've seen on here taht some people put down a pretty respectable amount of power with these. ( plus the 'whine' is way cool too ) I can probably get a kit for 2500 plus somewhere between 125 - 300 for tuning I would imagine. So that would save me a bit of $$, but still fairly close. This is still pretty appealing to me.

and the last option

#3. An all motor setup with all Skunk 2 parts. ( mostly )
Skunk 2 Intake Manifold
Skunk 2 cams ( stage 2 )
Skunk 2 cam gears
Skunk 2 valves, springs and Titanium retainers
JG/Edelbrock 65mm TB
Header ( Greddy, SKunk2, Comptech is TOO much bling for me , DC maybe? )
Plus tuning

I could get that for around 2000- 2100 depending on discounts and where Iget it from... if I buy stuff fellow HT members then that price would be even less.
I heard a fellow HT-er's car (Skunk2nR) on a vid of a dyno run... and [joey lawrence voice] woah...[/joey lawrence voice] when vtec hit. it was LOUD.

Will I still get some pretty siginicant gains from that all motor setup? What should I expect from that?
What kind of exhaust should I run wth the JRSC? with the Skunk 2 setup?
I have 2.25" right now.

I'm running a stock cat right now, because they test emissions around here. Last time I went I passed with flying colors though!!

I know SKunk 2 chips the P72 ecus... will my car pass smog with that chip?

Anyway, I want to do the install myself. Plus, this isn't an all out horsepower game. I just want some extra go-go for the fun factor and I like to have those spirited drives through the curves more than drag racing.. in fact I never drag this car.
I don't want this to turn into a TURBO vs. SC vs. ALL MOTOR debate... I made my choice. ALL MOTOR or SC. It's one of them two.
Choose below and give me your input.

Thanks

I see.... but i really wanna stick with either SC or all motor..., actually i'm leaning to the all motor deal. bit cheaper, and I will get to learn all about the wonderful world of valvetrains and installations...

I have to say that running a turbo is in most cases involving Hondas a better bet than running a supercharger and a hell of a lot cheaper than a powerful all motor build up. Contact johnisenglish, he'll get you all the info and a damn good price for a good turbo kit.

If it were me, I'd concentrate on improving airflow with a better intake manifold and throttle body, and then see what I could do to remove some weight from the car.

Ok well i thought about it and looked at my different options... I wanna go the all motor route.

Anyone have experiences with stage 2 cams by skunk2? they say , 'Stage II: Stage II profiles are more aggressive than Stage I profiles, and are designed for modified engines operating at higher rev ranges. Upgrading to Skunk2 Racing valvetrain components is required for proper operation. Stock idle and emission characteristics may be slightly compromised, but fair-to-good driveability allows them to still be used on dual-purpose vehicles. Proper tuning, an upgraded intake system, and an exhaust system are required in order to maximize the potential of these camshafts. Do not use oversized valves.'

post some good experiences with these anyone...

I'd recommend Toda valve train components over the Skunk2's. Yes they're more expensive, but they're well worth the price. As for the cams, I have no experience with Skunk2's.
