Need some advice. Might buy an Integra.
Hey whats up peeps? I'm in the process of selling my 2000 Si. I'm selling it because I basically cant afford it any longer. I'm tired of the car payment.
I've been looking for something a little different and my eye caught sight of an integra. I like! I'm really into speed now and dont really care about all that other stuff. I dont think I can afford a GS-R cause they are kinda pricey but either way I am looking for an integra that will haul ***. I've always wanted to do an engine swap, so that is not out of the question. So would it be easier and cheaper to just buy a base model integra and do an engine swap, maybe a b20 bottom end and B18c top? I'm not sure how all this engine swapping stuff works but I was told you can have a B20 bottom with a VTEC head? Someone care to straighten this mess out? I'm gonna turbo this car so I need the best setup for turbo. So should I just start out with a GS-R and do the B20 bottom (if possible) and run boost, or should I just start with a base model integra and start from scratch with the engine? Help me out guys. I'm new to this. Please dont tell me to do a search either!!!! Thanks for all your help.

It depends on how much you are gonna boost and how much power you want to make. You can find 94 integras ls's and rs's for cheap. You can throw a drag 3 kit run 10 lbs and run 13's on slicks. The VTECS ie GSR models respond better to turbo chargin, they typically make 30+hp than a non vtec.
Whatever route you go it really depends on your budget, what your preference is , so on and so on.
I say establish a budget and determine how fast you want to go first, then you can sort out the nitty gritty details on which engine to go with.

That helps out alot
. I want to run 12's maybe 13's. I want this car to be my project car. So I'll probly have it around for awhile. I dont really have a set budget yet. I wanted to find a car for around $6000 give or take and then build from there. The car cannot cost over $8000 but what I will invest into the car after I buy it will be any amount. So with that in mind. I've been looking around for some used integra gsr's. I can probly find a good condition 96 for about $7000.
I'll probly use a custom turbo setup. This car will be daily driven so nothing too crazy. Will I need to build the internals to break into the 12's? What would you recommend with these questions being answered.

On a GSR with about 6-8 lbs of boost on stock internals you should hit 13's. To hit the 12's (high 12's) you'll have to boost a little higher like 10-12lbs. I don't recommend boosting that high on stock internals, that is threshold limit for breaking. It can be done as long as you have the proper fuel management BUT I don't advise it.
If you want to hit 12's all day with reliability get some pistons and rods (Crower and JE 9:1) then get a hondata system. You can boost safely up 18 lbs Besides that you'll need a 3 inch exhaust, and a good clutch, boost controller, bigger injectors, turbo timer, ya ya.
Off the top of my head if you can find a GSR for 7000 it will cost like another 4-5000 for all the stuff I mentioned. You should be able to do mid-low 12's with trap speeds in the 115 range.

it would be cheaper to start with a civic cx, a 92 would be cheapest.
I bought mine for 2000 bux and it runs like a champ.
over the winter I will be hybriddign and rallycrossing it.
my integra even as a 94 was a 9000 dollar entry fee for mods to add ontop of that $$, so the civic is a much cheaper option if you will be replacign a lot of parts.. sus, brakes, motor, interior, so on and so on....
