after LS swap, car wont idle ecu code 14
before i did my swap someone here said it was ok not to hook up the charcoal canister. now i have a code 14. i had a code 41 also but corrected it by tapping in a 4 wire O2 sensor on the tower plugs, cx harness.
all this started because i have a 92 LS and cant find a 94 manafold and throttlebody, so i got a hold of a 96 LS intake manafold. I noticed a throttlebody difference between obd1 and obd2. The small vacuum hose from the charcoal canister goes right on top the the throttle body. but on obd2 throttlebody it does not have a fitting for the small hose from the charcoal canister. does anybody know what that small vacuum hose is for on the obd1 throttlebody. maybe i can find another spot to plug in the small hose on the obd2 throttlebody.
Let this be a lesson to me, dont put obd2 stuff on obd1 system. One easy solution is to find another LS 94-5 intake manifold with throttle body, or i could try using my civics iac system and rig it in or something.
im starting to get a headache.

i dont think code 14 has anything to do with your charcoal canister.

maybe so, on the obd2 this sensor is on top of the intake plenum and i tooked it off because it doesnt plug. The other big vacuum hose from the charcoal canister goes to this IAC sensor. maybe i will try to use the ciivc IAC sensor and plug it on top of the OBD2 manifold. but one problem still exist. a vacuum hose from the charcoal canister goes on top of the throttlebody for OBD1 but no vacuum nipple for OBD2. can i tap this vacuum hose to something else.
need to get this beater ride up and running so i dont have to drive my supra to work.

-- thats right, you dont have to have the charcoal canister lines hooked up at all. No check lights will come up. You did something, either plugged something up wrong or something else to get that code 14 (IACV)

-- yes there is a differnce between 90-93 integra TB's & 94+ integra TB's. All 94+ integra TB's have a top mounted MAP sensor on them, whereas all 90-93 integra's have a fire-wall mounted MAP sensor & vacuum tube running from the MAP to a small spout on the topside of the TB.
You have a couple options here, but the easiest one to do is to swap over your existing 92 LS TB onto the 96 LS manifold. However, you can use the 96 TB if you want, but you'll just have to extend the firewall mounted MAP sensor's plug to reach the MAP sensor thats on the top of the 96 TB, then disregard the whole firewall mounted MAP sensor assembly altogether. Having the MAP sensor hooked up is way more important than having the charcoal canistor hoses hooked up btw.
Your code 14, is for the IACV sensor.
I have a feeling you either:
(1) didn't hook it up
(2) you mixed up the IACV plug with either the EGR sensor or the IAT sensor which both use the same style of round plug. Since you're not reporting a code 10, that means you didn't mix it up with the IAT sensor, so that cancels out that sensor. It must be the EGR sensor that you have the IACV plugged into on accident (I guess). Double check your IACV plug.

my car is running, it turned out that i used the purge control solenoid connector (red,yel/blk)on the iac connector (blu/yel,yel/blk). since the ls manifold is a 96 i did not have the purge control solenoid. on the other hand i plug the iac to a sensor in back of the motor. I do not know what this sensor is on a 92 ls, it has a green connector and it is under the waterpump pipe, left of the oil pressure sensor and above the oil filter. If anybody knows let me know as of right now this is not plugged in, and the purge is not connected along with the charcoal canister.
yes code 14 is iac, the problem was i mixed the plugs up. i wanted to know what is the plug that is behind the block, above the oil filter and next to the oil switch, its a green plug and is same round connector as the iac.

that's the knock sensor..
you're talking about this sensor right?

IACV problem...check if all the plugs are mated correctly and didnt mix anything up as stated above. You may have switched plugs or missed one completely. You can also try cleaning the IACV (clean the little filters) and check its gaskets while you're at it.
Had a similar problem when I swapped intake manifolds. The car threw a code 14 and idled weird. I just double checked the harness plugs and connections around the intake manifold area (a haynes or a service manual will be helpful), and cleaned the IACV...and the damn car idled at last. Good luck!
