Code 6 and battery not charging on 88 dx crx
I just replaced the clutch on my 88 dx and when I got it back together I had a code 6 - Coolant temp. sensor. The car also was very difficult to get started, especially when warmed up. I looked by the sensor and saw a wire not plugged in and now it starts easier but its still finicky, needing gas to start but starts easier
than before. I have reset the ecu (battery cables off and pulled hazard fuse) but I still have a code 6.
Now the charging problem...have had this one a little longer but havn't delt with it because I was at college. I've had trouble starting because of the battery and with the cold it became a real problem. Has a 4 month old battery, and 2 month old alternator. I have had both checked and both are good. But at idle I only get 12.7 v to the battery.
Also when the car is off we read a draw that climbs up to around 11 volts, if you touch the positive terminal to the battery there's a spark and then the climb starts again...leading my dad to believe there's a capacitor somewhere thats messed up, or it could be a short? The draw on the battery and improper charging is what has left me push starting for a while. I can run the car just fine off the alternator but with the lights on it draws extra from the battery.
Any help on where to start looking for these problems is greatly appreciated...I gotta get my car in working order in a week before I go back to school.
