D16Z6 Boost and Build
Ok, so I have a stock 94 Civic EX, D16Z6 obviously, and I did a couple of things, such as an MSD SCI, Blaster coil, modified cap, 8.5 wires...
I am adding Boost, via a T3/T4, which I might have to cry about later. Have lots of the new smaller parts, 255 Walbro fuel pump, such as a boost gauge, underdrive pulleys, timing belt, new seals and gaskets, etc....
Question is, I have been informed I am gonna blow the darn thing up with an FMU. Then I have seen no, AFC, no FMU, the Apexi V-AFC, No their boost controller, no AEM, no Hondata...
Need some info here. I guess everyone has an OPINION, but can someone gimme some real info here. I am about to start putting this motor back together with all these parts, and now I am thinking I might have bought all the wrong stuff. (Some I haven't bought yet, so I might have gotten lucky there....)

FMU is a fuel management unit (I think that is what it translates to) and it is a fuel pressure regulator that responds to boost pressure. When the regulator senses a pound of boost it will increase the fuel pressure by 1 PSI to 10(?)PSI how ever you have it adjusted. Basivcally it is a cheap way to get more fuel inot the engine under boost. They work, howeve you need a good fuel pump to make them work properly.
AN AFC (air fuel controller?) is a controller that wires into the injector system and increases the pulse width of the injectors thus increasing the fuel. The pulse width can be adjusted at different RPM levels to "fine tune" your air to fuel ratio. THis is better than the FMU, but much more injolved on the tuning side.
I have a friend that has a junkyard turbo setup on his D16Z6 and he uses an FMU, but he keeps the boost at a safe 6 psi. If he wanted more I would sugest an AFC or standalone unit to control the fuel dilevery.

Using the AFC --- So, the idea would be to monitor the fuel air mixture, by starting with a really rich mixture and slowly bringing it back? Thus preventing detonation....
Is the Apexi S-AFC II this adjustable, that I can tell it to run richer over the entire RPM band, then bring it down as I watch the fuel/air mixture gauge?
Also, anyone have an idea on the right set of injectors for me? I bought a Walbro 255 LPH fuel pump, and so far have only seen fuel injectors made for the car that have a 10-14% increase in volume. I don't know the cc, but I have a feeling they are nothing like 350-450....

that would be a waste of money.....you are running all of this on a stock motor so its not like your gonna be looking for every 1hp you can get......a greddy kit will make no more power with the same boost as a home made kit will, its all about the ammount of air you put in there, and how cool it is.....so get a big fmic, and use a v-afc.....
standalone is best.
fmu is good for ~5-6psi. anything higher and it gets a bit crazy on stock injectors. not worth it imo.
afc hack, 8-10psi 11-12 before you throw a code.
If you arent gonna run standalone... I would run dsm 450injectors (40-60$) and a vafc.
The "hack" really isnt a hack at all. you just run oversized injectors then lean it out in the afc settings. Good number to start with is -40 and go from there. generally the fuel curve will be anywhere from -40 to -30. differs with every engine/setup.
