Picture Request: Rear of Stock ITR Head Unit
Story: I used the bracket on the back of the stock head unit to install my aftermarket head unit. Aftermarket head unit was stolen and they got the the bracket with it. Acura does not list that bracket as a part. Not in their database or shown in their parts diagrams (I have checked both at the dealer and at http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.org; neither shows the part). So the dealer thinks I am crazy. I think the bracket comes with the radio and need to prove this to my insurance company so I can get them to take action to get the bracket.
So...I need a picture of the rear of a stock head unit with the bracket on the back. If possible picture should show it is a Type-R head unit. If not possible I will take what I can get.
Would appreciate any help! Thanks! :-)

I believe that the bracket that you speak of is actually integrated onto the rear portion of the stock radio housing. This bracket actually is a piece of sheet metal with tapped holes. The radio slides onto slots in the center dash area then you tighten the bolts. This bracket cannot be removed from the housing because it is the housing. Sorry I don't have any pics.
I agree wtih that. I think you need to go to crutchfield.com and pick yourself up a mounting bracket. Should run you no more than $20. I installed my stereo in my GSR and had to go to my local Tweeter and get the mounting bracket. It comes with a "generic basket". Looks close to stock, fits like a glove. Hope that helped.
Could someone post links of the install kit to use then? I have no idea how I am going to mount my new aftermarket radio :-(
http://www.crutchfield.com - order one - comes w/ instructions and wiring harness, very good stuff
Okay, I found this:

If you look at the picture, there is a bracket that looks like it would fit the stock mounting method that is used by the stock head unit. Does anyone agree? In the picture it's the bracket which is middle right of the photo.

This is right on...
I've worked in mobile installation for awhile, and there should be two 8 mm bolts that go up, through the bracket and stock radio. The rest of the radio attaches to the pocket. That's it...no difference in ITR or not radio. In fact, almost all Civic, Integra, and old Accord radios work the same.
EDIT: removed pic since I can't link from that server.
