Is it hard to do clutch install?
The right tools and a lift would help...
But the right tools, some good jackstands, a good big jack and the servive manual, and youll be driving with a new clutch in no time..
Dropped itrinej's trans in 3 hours, and been waiting for parts for 1 month. Make sure u have all parts ready.. hehehe

nope...not at all. I did my CRX one in a one week time span, but that was my first time all by myself, hand tools, and trying to find all the freetime I could between school. It's just time consuming.
Dang, already time to upgrade the clutch? How did TWS go?

I was wondering this as well, but I'll be installing a flywheel and a JDM final drive all at the same time...
It will be myself and a friend, I have some decent tools, jack, jackstands, he's got a Helms manual....anything else I would need?

I've always wondered how hard it is to do. I've watched clutch jobs done, but I've never done one myself. If you need any help, let me know because I'd like to learn...

Hey Will,
You fried your clutch @ TWS too!! I was planning on installing my new one this weekend, assuming I have enough time. Maybe we can do ours at the same time. I have a factory service manual and I've done mine before, so it really shouldn't be all that "hard" to do. Let me know. Later.

Na, my clutch isn't done yet. Just trying to plan ahead. It's got almost 50,000 mi on it and I'm sure its coming soon, just can't feel it yet. Now I gotta decide what kind to get now....
I would say get a pulley to remove the ball joints and tie rod ends. Its never good to slam em with a hammer. A punch for the shifter pin, a very good 10mm for clutch and a 17mm for the flywheel bolts, cheap ones might strip them. To save time I dont remove the axles from the knuckles. Get that Hightemp grease that the manual recommends. Makes the job easy when trying to line up the shaft too.
Always put in new trans fluid. If you push in the slave you should replace, if u replace that, you will have to replace the master also. They are not expensive, so replacing those two and putting in new fluid should be in your plans when doing a clutch.
Dont try to force in the trans with the bolts. With patience it will slide on in.

I got the ACT Kit # AI4HDSS (Heavy Duty Pressure Plate, Organic Performance Street Disc, Release Bearing, Pilot Bearing, and Alignment Tool) good for up to 243 ft/lbs of torque. ACT guys recommended it over their other models since it's going to be used for road racing/street driving. Later.

My dad and I did a clutch job on a '90 corolla with only the service manual and general knowlege of what everything under the hood is. I think if you have the manual and right tools, and have some idea of what you're doing/looking at it's a good idea to do it yourself and learn hands-on. Plus no labor costs!
Oh yeah, it ended up being a weekend job, we weren't in any rush though.
