Get the EX tranny and a intake mani... If you want to get a kit the Edelbrock kit comes with a new intake manifold and a IC. You can get a used GReddy kit with a IC and **** for around $1k, the EB will run ya a little more. Good luck

Well I know how screwed up our ecu and wiring for the vtec-e is on our y5's. So that is why i was wonderin if the ex kits would work on ours or not. I am going to just start buying pieces one at a time till I get everything since im in college. I want boost but its going to be around summer time.

I just installed the EX tranny a couple of weeks ago along with a new clutch. I havent upgraded my intake mani yet. But the greddy kit is appealing. I am waiting to see some more results from the edelbrock before i can really make a decision on the two.

Noticed a nice difference between the hx and ex trannys

I'm also curious about this. There is a member on here ( I think his name is HXVtec) who is in the middle of boosting a y5. I've heard that the ECMs are kinda touchy about the secondary 02.

http://www.turbod16.com/ search the forums there lots of info on all the kits and custom setups.

If i were to get a kit i would get the edelbrock over the GReddy.

Yeah I am wonderin about the ecu the most. I would hate to invest a nice chunk of change to kill my car and wallet. For a college student who is broke thats a lot.

the ecu works fine with boost. Do a search on turbod16 for d16y5. A few people have boosted them and it should give ya all the info you're looking for.

^^^ Why when the greddy is so CHEAP

They can be had new for 1400 (92-95 EX Kits) or like 1850 for the 96-00 Kits
Intercooler of your choice
BOV of your choice
Get a Custom 2.5 Inch Downpipe
Greddy Profect B
DEI Gauges of your Choice
Skunk 2 Intake Manifold Swap for SOHC
Fuel Management with Tuning
= Less then the Edelbrock kit, Greddy kits are GREAT kits for 1st time turbo users
The Edelbrock kits are 3000 (if u kow where to look)
u have a extra 1600 to play with if u buy a greddy kit, thats alot of skrilla.

because if i were buying a kit i would want it to be complete. If i was doing custom i would go the whole way not buy half kit and then custom the other stuff.. just my opinion...
