Default car boosting, but not showing on gauge

okay, my boost gauge is showing that i am not going into boost, at idle, its at 20 vacuum, but when i get on the gas, the needle doesnt go past 1 psi...i can feel my car pick up at around 3000 rpm, but the gauge shows nothing...i also know its boosting, because when i give it throttle, and let go, i can see the bov opening, so that must means theres pressure in the system...anybody know what could be going on with the gauge?

Your boost gauge could be defective.

right now i have the hose connected to the brake booster, which is on the same tee as my bov line...could that be the problem?

No that shouldn't be a problem.

does it pull to redline? or just at 3k. if just at 3k you probaly got a loose coupling. Also where does the needle on teh boost gauge line up when the car is off?

my bov opens when i rev it and let off the gas (lots of vaccum is produced!) even in neutral (and you can't [well it's hard] make boost in neutral)...

From you saying that you can see your BOV opening, i'm assuming your sitting in your driveway doing this? You must have a charge leak or somthing if you were driving around and not building any... I doubt the gauge is defective. You'll KNOW when you hit boost.

oh yeah... does the bov open, or does the bov BLOW OFF!?

my BOV valve opens too when i'm free reving, this must mean i'm making M4D POW3R YO!.. sorry, but i was running a TD05 and it was bearly making boost.. same thing with my friends T3/T4.. his blow off valve opens when free reving.. you might be making alittle bit of boost.. or you might have a leak in your charge lines.. eirther way i doubt you gauge is defective.

You didn't connect a one-way valve to your boost gauge did you?

Are you driving the car or just revving it on the driveway?

The turbo will need to have load on it for it to get boost.

if its an autometer, then u need to make sure ur vacuum hose that goes in teh back of the guage is all the way in and making no leaks. mine was reading 4.5psi when i was on the stock greddy wastegate 5.5psi spring. i could actually hear the air rushing into my guage while sitting there idling with the radio off. it was leaking so i pushed it in a little better and then i could no longer hear the air leaking behind my guage pod. problem was solved and it read 5.5 psi like it was supposed to. hope that helps. p'z

Is the turbo abnormally loud?

Are you sure you dont have a leak somewhere?
