Use water temp gauge for intake temp
Intake temp gauges are so expensive so i was thinking ...can i get a water temp gauge and hook it up to my stock intake air temp gauge? If not is there some other gauge that would work?
Also, can i use a water temp sender unit for the intake temp and just weld it into my charge pipe?

I think it would be very slow to react to temp changes and unless you had very high intake temps, i.e. under high boost and no/poor intercooling, it would always read at the low end of the gauge. How about an indoor/outdoor thermometer from Home Depot or a hardware store? A lot of the indoor/outdoor thermometers, the kind that you mount on a door or window frame, use a mechanical sensor on a thin tube that you place outside. Of course it's best to buy something that is really intended for this. Look in http://www.mcmaster.com/ or http://www.mscdirect.com/ for thermometers and thermocouples. They have several that run on AA batteries and even have memory and alarm for about $30. Your mileage may vary.
i looked on mcmaster.com and they didn't have any cheap ones ie 50 bucks or less. there has to be a gauge that i can just wire in...

get a cheap battery powered inside outside thermometer (if youre not just wanting this to look pretty, and stick it in the glove box. wire the sensor to the TB or intake
