what engine are we talking about to start with. TDC and Cyl position sensor are in different places, adn I would personally check your cam timing, sound like the expert got it off somewhat.

your timing is fucked, your lucky he didnt bend any valves...you have to put it at TDC again and then fix the cam timing like mentioned...also your car doesnt have a serpentine belt...so he might be charging you extra for **** you dont have/need...

If your timing was off, you would notice it. It would drive like *****, and your valves would already be in trouble. Reset youre ecu, and see if it comes back.

-Jake

Edit: also check to see if your sensor is even plugged in

I wouldnt just incase, I know a guy that got his belt back on maybe one tooth out & it came up with the same code & ticked over like crap tho ran ok higher up

Take the plastic cover off so you can see the cam gears & set the crank to TDC to check that the cam gears line up!

HTH

I know my LS had one....*shrug*

Dave drove to work in the morning though..and he said it wasnt running bad. If his timing was one tooth off...he would have noticed by now.

Reset that shiznit!

well I got a brand new distributor from distributor king really cheap....
Just picked up a kit for only $39.99 that includes a timing light, compression tester, vacuum gauge, remote starter switch and a digital multimeter. The timing light alone is $42 and the multimeter alone is $36....so I got a deal. we will see what happens............

pull the valve cover off, and VISUALLY check the static timing. It's not that hard. Even if you're not a mechanic, it's only 4 10mm nuts to take the cover off.

I'm almost completely convinced the belt is off a tooth if you've replaced the dist. and it's still doing it.

Plus it wasn't having this problem before the timing belt change.

re-did ignition timing w/light........cuz last time I forgot to bridge the connector. Still didnt see any marks. Then I pushed the car in gear to turn crankshaft manually and hopefully mark it with a sharpie.... no lines visable. hmmmm.... had to retard it almost all the way to get it to idle at 750. I do think that my cam is off a tooth...

dude who did the work? next time bring it to me you won't have those problems. your idle up and down is an air pocket, the code 8 is belt is off or needs a distributor. call me if you like.
