Default Best Engine For Stripped CRX STD?

Hi,
I picked up a crx project for 500 bucks this weekend.Overall car is in pretty good shape.Im making a project out of it.Just want too know what the best engine is too swap into it For NA car.I was thinking b20vtec,but im not sure now.I think that may be a little much for me... maybe not.I stripped the car already, interior kinda smelled like **** anyways. So basically i have the dash, door panels a shifter and steering wheel,1 seat.I would like too know if when i go too register the car this will be a problem? Will the inspector look at it and go too it because of the interior?

as far as inspection i dont see it being a problem as long as you have seatbelts and a speedometer...

for the engine is concerned...whatever you can afford...

I have everything you need hubs axels DOHC ZC, ZC Trans DX brakes everything but the engine harness getting ready to be listed for sale in next few days. But hah , hah, bes enging is the best engine your budget allows for. and depending on what the car will be used for. On street anything that passes smog is good, on the track you need to know the rules of the sanctioning body before you commit to any one thing. You never showed your location like most of us do. Local laws can be a bear, particularly if you live in Cali.

nah i live in connecticut, there not strict at all here.So you think it will pass registering? If i have seat belts 2 seats, full dash and door panels?I wont have carpet or hatch or anything?Plus what if i put a different engine in?Will they not allow that?Im thinking i might do a b18c5,although prolly too much work converting obd's and hydro/cable tranny.I might just do b16a1 or xsi engine, and spend the rest into parts for that.Car is gonna be used as a fun/mini-drag car.Ill only use it on weekends and take it too tracks and stuff

you need to ask someone at an inspection station what the vehicle code requires there. Only certain way to know.

Go with a B20Z with crower 404s, and heavy porting on the head.
