Default OMG B&M Tech Support---MUST READ!! Regarding FPR

After reading a few threads on FPRs namely this one and this one, I began to wonder how my B&M FPR would react when referencing boost. My logic tells me 1:1, how ever I am very open minded and love to learn new things. Some people have confirmed there stock ones are 1:1 while others have confirmed they are not. (diff. stock regulators maybe) Some people have said that 99-00 civic si are not 1:1. (checked with in car FP gauge). When you install the B&M on the factory FPR you change out the spring, so I just wanted to hear exactly how it behaves from someone who would surely know.

I head over to B&M's website with the idea of emailing them. They do not have email. Fine I think, I will just call over there.

Here is how my conversation with the B&M "tech support" guy went:

B&M: b&m.
Me: I installed the CommandFlo Fuel Pressure Modifier on my 99 honda civic si and was wondering how it would react when referencing boost. Would it raise the fuel pressure on a 1:1 ratio with boost?
B&M: Is that a super charger?
Me: Um.....The car will be turbo.
B&M: That is not a boost one.
Me: What?
B&M: That is a vacuum.
Me: What do you mean?
B&M: That one only works with draw not boost.
Me: So you are saying if positive pressure is applied to the fuel pressure regulator nothing will happen?
B&M: Yup. Might blow out the diaphragm.

I know for a fact that stock FPRs are fine on boosted cars, and I know several people on this board who have run with the B&M hack FPR with boost and no problems. The diaphragm used on both is the same factory one. Not to mention on B&M's website they sell it for turbo eclipses (admittingly it would use the stock eclipse FPR as a base).

I am in utter shock and disbelief. Am I missing something? Am I the one that needs mental help?

Holy engrish, batman!

I tried 3 stock FPR's in my 2000 Civic Si. They all came from different 99-00 Civic Si's. I had in-car boost and fuel pressure gauges and observed this:

#1) My original one -- fuel pressure did not rise AT ALL under boost
#2) One I bought as a spare -- fuel pressure did not rise under boost
#3) Bought because I drilled a hole in #2 -- Fuel pressure DID rise under boost, but not 1:1. It was 1:1 up to about 6 psi. Then it was like 0.5:1 up to 9 psi.

These were all stamped "KEIHIN NR-1"

My conclusion: If you want a 1:1 FPR, but an AEM or Aeromotive...stock ones are a crap shoot.

So can't u just add a check valve on the the stock or aftermarket fpr so it sees no boost?

I've got an AEM fpr and is the AEM 1:1?

You want the fpr to see boost... The AEM from what I understand is pretty close to 1:1. I'm using one on my setup.

I have the B&M in my car right now without boost and my 255 and 440cc injectors. The pressure just bounces at 45psi no matter what i do, even at WOT.

Is your FPR manifold pressure-referenced? It should vary as a function of manifold pressure/vacuum.

The regulators also have a 1/8 NPT gauge port, and are boost referenced (if you are running a turbo or supercharger).

I know that i run this one http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/nc...r=361 and it is also 1:1 and works flawlessly with boost.

Just to add to the pot of controversy...

This was taken from a post a while back Quoted from BoostedHybrid...

"all fuel pressure regulators will be 1:1 with boost".

I know Boosted knows his ****, but this just doesn't corrispond with what everyone else has said.

I think that they are to a certain extent, like Sonny tested and saw.

After reading this I'm going to bring my stock regulator to the dyno with me just in case I picked up a used aem and have been running it, but it hasn't seen boost yet.
