Default Tech req: CTR Pistons install

Hi!

My engine is burning oil, and I'm blaming the wristpins. Time for a drivetrain upgrade - so I thought why not go with 81.5mm CTR pistons?

Is this something I can install myself - or should I have someone do it? I have the service manual - and some experience with engine work. I was hoping I didnt have to remove the engine - but just the oilpan.

You mean piston rings, not wrist pins... right?

I dont think Ctrs come 81.5, only 81 and 81.25.

Ctr pistons would be the inexpensive way compared to forged.

You'd have to completely take apart your block to get it .25 over, although I've heard of mobile machining services that will bore/hone the block while its in the car.

Assembling, you can do it yourself with the Helms manual, just get a buddy who has a little more experience to guide you just in case.

Good luck.
