sounds like a vacuum leak to me, or the IACV filter could be clogged up.

there's a few things you should check that might help you

- clean the TB plate with some TB cleaner
- check all your vac lines for leaks
- IACV could possibly need to be replaced ( that fixed my idle surge )
- could be your TPS, try swapping that out if you have a spare

last thing you might wanna try is slightly adjusting the idle screw on the TB and see if that helps. Goodluck

spray carb cleaner all around the IM and TB and see if it starts bubbling. that should help you find the vaccum leak

have you recently done any work to your car?

My engine did it a while back. I first was told to change my Fast Idle Control Valve and it would fix it. It went away for a while.

Later I had cams put in my engine and it came back after that, so I took it to the shop to make sure the valves were set right. The guy checked my valves and turned up the idle. Didn't seem to go away.

I had to get my car smogged and was hoping it would stop for a few minutes. It didn't and on the SECOND try, I had to figure SOMETHING out before I had to pay this guy for passing. So I turned down the idle, and it went away.

JUST the other day, I took my car to Sears to see if my battery was going bad. After getting it back, I noticed that the battery terminal was cracked and my crazy idle was back.

I can't take it back, because there is no record of my car being there. They didn't do anything other than "test the battery." So they would call bullshit if I said they messed it up.

I don't know what the problem is either. I will be checking back to this thread to check out the suggestions.

ok lets start from the basics:
-any codes?
-any vacuum leaks?
-what happens when you turn on the ac?
-what ecu are you running? jumper harness?
-what happens when you remove a vaccum line from the manifold?

let me know thanks

Mine has no codes
no leaks (that I know of)
Nothing happens when the AC is turned on
P30
I'll try that today.

What I want to know is that if SO many people are having this problem, why hasn't anyone posted a fix? Is this a problem that cannot be fixed? Or, are the right people not looking at this thread?

The problem has many variables and something that fixes one persons car may not fix anothers.....

I can make a post walking everyone thru something like a flow chart and people can add there experience and we can get one big thread going for this problem.

That is an outstanding Idea.....and we can get it stickied by Tom. You make the "flowchart" and we can start unfugging this stuff. One problem is the CYP sensor in the dizzy, IACV....vaccuum leak.

Theres should jsut be one BIG-O idle thead, built from all the other idle thead. Even if you search, there is way too many topis with all different kidns of variety, someone should just make one thead that covers as much problems and solutiosn as possible, w/ a section of unsolved problems or something? sorry for typos im bout to sleep.
