Headers for S2000
Hey Guys, I'm new to this site. I've had my car for about six months and I have started looking at adding some parts to it. The first step is the AEM intake and the second is a header. Although, I can't decide which one to choose I am looking at either the DC Sports (ceramic) or the Toda header. I have called a few shops and they have given me drastically different opinions on these two parts.
So I was wondering if any body out there is using the DC Sorts header and what type of exhaust are you using with it?
Up here in Canada the Toda header is about $2,000 vs DC Sports $600.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

you pay for what you get, although the DC isn't a bad piece, the toda has been proven to make power, can atest to that as a fact. Keep in mind that it'll help if you have something to tune the fuel and ignition maps, the AEM ems is the perfect tool, next you'll need a good tuner. Bolting on parts may or may not give you power, it's tuning where the power can be made with the use of bolt ons and what- nots.
I wouldn't go for the DC headers seeing as how the whole brand is mass produced. My Comptech headers, high flow cat, and exhaust system plus the air intake work perfect. I agree with the other guy, you get what you pay for.

what you think Comptech is'nt produced in the same way ? Do you even know if you made any power with them to be talking in the first place. You might be suprised what it actually takes to make even a couple more hp with your stock ECM
At least DC has an in house dyno. And for a fact used it in designing those headers.

Actually Comptech makes all their headers in house, all the welds are by hand...and if you compare them to the DC's you will see a noticeable difference in quality.
Whoa...DC has an in house dyno????
Comptech's got a few.

most don't
I'm looked at 2 4-2-1 ITR headers right now and I don't see any reason the DC would be considered inferior.
I'm wondering where you think DC's headers come from or how if you think the welds are not by hand that robotic welds are somehow inferior.

Did you try looking at the welds? Try taking both pieces to a master welder and ask his opinion...does DC even TIG weld their headers?
(I wont even point out the addition of a stepped tubing diameter on the Comptech piece)

I don't think robotic welds are inferior...You stated the Comptech headers were mass produced when in fact, they make them in very small batches by hand. This is why, I'm told they're so hard to get sometimes.

I'd go with either the Toda or the Powerhouse Amuse.
The Amuse is lighter (I believe, don't quote me), but will take a little longer to get ahold of since you'll have to go through a special order importer where as AKH already brings over the Toda ish and I believe the stock it here in the states (could be wrong tho).
Both headers seem to give good power and save you some weight too. Quality wise if you get your hands on either and compare it to the DC sports, you'll see why the DC one is half the price

so far top header choices are Toda, Mugen, Amuse, Spoon, T1R(if avail), hytech if u can afford it...whats good with a prototype SMSP s2000 header

I havn't seen any actual dyno plots on the Amuse header to date. I think in a recent japanese tuning mag they were claiming gains of like 20 some horse in the the midrange with the Amuse Header, R1 (could have been R1000) exhaust, Mugen Intake, and the Amuse Hi-Tec ROM.
But thats second hand information from a magazine so who knows how accurate that is. I am pretty sure its the lightest though, and its rather tough to go wrong with Amuse :D

I got amazing mid-range result without degradation of high-range when I went from stock to Mugen header after I supercharged. I then trid the Mugen exhaust but went back to the stock becaus it worked better.
Found a place through google called http://www.bulletproofautomotive.com , they didn't give a price on the Amuse header but it looks cool and weighs just 10lbs. I am sure you can get a price from them I just didn't look to deep into it since its not for me.
The price for the Amuse R1 header is $1337.36
they also have Toda for $1,150
Not sure how these prices compare but they have a huge selection of good **** for the S2000

for the most part, yeup, they are just fine. aftermarket, no matter what you go with, will shave off 10lbs. from the 22lb. stock unit. dollar for dollar, you are better off just going with a supercharger for the % gain per dollar spent. but if you are trying to squeeze all you can out of the car, maybe even keeping it NA, then Toda would be the way to go.

Why Mugen? Because of the name?
If you recommend a product, state why. Do you have Mugen headers?
