Default what mark do i aim timing gun at ? white or one of the other three..

my pulley has one white mark and then three other ones. to set TDC its the white one that must be lined up with the pulley right? well when i do that and set the cam to TDC and i check the timing the middle of the three other marks is no wehre near the pointer. the white mark is. i rotate the dizzy but it just gets worse.. is the belt off a notch or what? ? i put it to TDC three times and it always comes out the same.

So your saying you use the white mark to align your cam gear, then when you start the car and hit it with the timing light the pointer has the white line showing and not the red ones? If thats the case then your ign timing seems whack, I dont know how it would even run.

It sounds like you are doint it right. The single white mark is TDC, the middle mark of the three marks is the timing mark and the outer marks are the "plus or minus" timing marks. If your timing light is fixed or set at zero and the timing marks don't line up you should check the procedure in the factory manual for checking the timing, on some Honda cars you are supposed to "jump" a test plug or wires to check or set the timing. If that doesn't work out it may be your timing belt alignment. What is the history on this problem?
