BOOST GAUGE READING?!?! 64.4?
hi guys
i took my turbo crx ZC on its first test drive yesterday but have noticed the electronic boost gauge reads 64.4 and a load of other crazy settings, could it be detecting vacuum? cuz im pretty damn sure im not running 64.4 PSI...
where does everyone else hook their boost gauges to? what other units of measurement are used for PSI?
thanks

mm hg
i'd give you link to conversion website but it's on my laptop and i don't wanna turn it on. 65 mm hg isn't very high though, i'm guessing 5psi or so

ok so i took a deeper look at this chart did the maths and came out with a figure of a little over 1 PSI, this surely cant be correct? Im pretty sure i adjusted it to about 5 PSI a little more a little less maybe...

i'll have to look at my vafc today because it idles at like -400 something and the boost gauge says between 17-20 VAC . what kind of gauge do you have?
don't drive the car until tonight if you can.

64.4 sounds like Kilopascals to me.. [KPA]
1 kiloPascals = 0.145037738 PSI
In other words, you were running ~9.3 LBS of boost
-400 on a VAFC would be Millimeters of mercury. -400 MM/hg would be Appx -7.7 PSI or -53 KPA.
-17 - -20 is inches of mercury or in/mg and would be appx -6.5 - -4.5 PSI.

The gauge is Race X, i cant find any info on the web about them and the instructions are no help at all apart from wiring. I have a mechanical boost gauge hooked up also so i'll check that one next time. do you hook boost gauges directly to vacuum? any vacuum source? cuz thats what ive done, the feed from the top of the inlet manifold...
yeah thats the one! just rung up for some more in depth instructions....
where do you guys connect into the vacuum source? do you use any vacuum source?

you can tee into the brake booster, or the back of the intake manifold... its personal preference really... some tap into the line directly off of the turbo... I prefer right off the FPR vaccuum line that way you are seeing boost IN THE MOTOR, not out of the turbo...
where can i find the brake booster? is it located at a common point on honda's? the engine I have is a D series simular to a ZC.
thanks for your input guys...

brake booster is the fat line that is on the very top on the right side of the picture. it has a lil metal like thing which is called the check valve. you tap into the line before the check valve (closer to the manifold)
thanks guys, you helped alot. I'll take a copuple of pics and post them on this thread when ive done it. by the way how do you post pics?
thanks
